Voice Range Profile (Beta)
What is a Voice Range Profile?
The Voice Range Profile (VRP) is an interactive vocal assessment tool that helps you explore and visualize your singing voice across different pitches and volumes. Whether you're a singer, voice teacher, student, or simply curious about your voice, the VRP provides fascinating insights into your vocal capabilities.
Key Features
Visual Voice Map
See your voice plotted on an interactive chart showing your vocal range from lowest to highest note, with both soft and loud dynamics displayed side by side.
Comprehensive Measurements
Record sustained notes across your range at two different volumes (soft and loud) to understand your vocal control and consistency.
Pitch Accuracy Tracking
Get instant feedback on how accurately you can hit target notes, with measurements showing whether you're singing sharp (higher) or flat (lower) than the intended pitch.
Vibrato Analysis
Discover the natural oscillation in your voice! The tool measures vibrato rate (how fast it oscillates) and extent (how wide the pitch variation is), helping you understand this important vocal technique.
Quick Assessment
Choose between a 5-note Partial Protocol (under 2 minutes) or a comprehensive 12-note Full Protocol (under 4 minutes) – fast enough for regular practice tracking.
Progress Tracking
Save your sessions and compare results over time to see how your voice develops with practice and training.
Important Notice
This tool is provided for educational and entertainment purposes only. The Voice Range Profile is NOT intended for medical, clinical, or diagnostic use. It should not be used to diagnose, treat, or assess any medical condition. If you have concerns about your vocal health, please consult a qualified healthcare professional such as an otolaryngologist (ENT doctor) or speech-language pathologist.
Understanding Your Results
After completing a Voice Range Profile, you'll see a detailed table with the following information:
For Each Note Measured:
Amplitude (dB SPL)
- Measures how loud you sang (in decibels Sound Pressure Level)
- Higher numbers = louder singing
- Typical range: 50-100 dB SPL
Accuracy (¢)
- Shows how close you were to the target pitch (in cents)
- A "cent" is 1/100th of a semitone
- Positive values (+) mean you sang sharp (higher than target)
- Negative values (−) mean you sang flat (lower than target)
- Values within ±25 cents are considered accurate
Vibrato Rate (Hz)
- How fast your voice oscillates (in Hertz, or cycles per second)
- Typical singing vibrato: 4-7 Hz
- "—" means no vibrato was detected on that note
Vibrato Extent (¢)
- How wide the pitch variation is during vibrato (in cents)
- Typical vibrato: 30-100 cents peak-to-peak
